To God be the Glory

This has been an interesting week. What is it that makes a week interesting will be different for each person, but for me it is interesting because of what I experienced and learned.

For us, the week was really not much different than they are normally. We had responsibilities to one another, our family and to the folks at the church I am serving as their Interim Pastor. One of the things that I learned many years ago was that I need to be able to do several different things at the same time. I also learned how to use the time I have to maximize it in accomplishing whatever I was doing. When I was learning this, it was very popular in the world of business. It was my father who encouraged me to learn about these things. It was so I could implement them into my life. At that time, I was a part of the family business. He was preparing me for my life in the business but more than that he was preparing me for life.

The 1980's when I learned about these. They were known as time management and multi tasking. As I look back over my life, I can tell you that these two things were an integral part of my life when I was in the family business and later when God called us into full time ministry. Even though I have retired now, or as I have said before repurposed, they are still integral parts of how I do life.

Now I may be a little melancholy right now because I am talking about a life that has had its ups and downs. But one that I can surely say thank you Lord for saving me and guiding me. I have reflected before about things in my life that I can clearly see how God has moved to direct what I have done. He has most certainly protected me and often that has been from my own self and decisions. Excuse me for a moment, THANK YOU LORD!!!!!!!!! OK, back to what I was saying, it is imperative to understand something very important about God and being a Christian.

In Colossians 3:17 ESV Paul wrote that-

17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Peter put it this way in 1 Peter 4:11 KJV

If any man speak, [let him speak] as the oracles of God; if any man minister, [let him do it] as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Recently, I heard Mac Brunson speaking on this. He said that you should write it in the beginning of your Bible, "It's all about God's Glory". He is right because it's about His glory. Whatever I do, whatever relationships, whatever job I do, wherever I go it's about His glory.

As I sit writing this today, I am again focused that what I do is and can only be for the glory of God. If I focus my days and allow Him to guide me through His Word by His Spirit, then I can and will glorify God.

Look, I am nobody special and neither are you. We are sojourners in this life and one day either Jesus is coming to get His church or God will call us home through death. Listen, either way we win and God is glorified. We mean everything to God who created us and provided His Son to give us a path to Him.

When we face life it can often appear to be very daunting. There are all kinds of mountains and obstacles that are seen and faced. However, that is when we are looking through the eyes of man. Probably everyone of you is remembering the verse right now from Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Well, remember we can do all things and also the purpose is that He might be glorified. You find a way through the issues of life but He gets the glory. That is exactly what God's Word tells us.

In God's Grace,
