Who We Are

Well, our recent birthday celebration was quite an event.  Celebrating 250 years as a nation is a significant achievement.  Weathering the storms of the past 2 and half centuries along with the freedoms we enjoy made for a special time for us to remember.

The primary purpose of my blog and podcast is to speak to Christians and to encourage those who might not be Christian to know and believe in Jesus Christ.  So, there is a reason that I write about things like this today.  You see spiritually there is a war going on all around us. It has been going on since the fall of Adam and Eve.  The stakes are high and the results are real.

Satan has and always will attack mankind.  He began in the garden, and he will do so until the bitter end.  He will use any and all resources at his disposal.  His plan is to attack and destroy both here and forever every life he can.  He does not want anyone to enjoy the freedom, liberty and happiness God as endowed to all men.

Satan doesn’t care what your skin color is or your social position. He cares not whether you are male or female, old or young.  It matters as nothing to him where you are from or where you live.  If he can deceive you and get you to believe his lies, he will do so.  He cares not about you or your feelings.  He has no respect because of who or who you think you are.  He wants you to miss every blessing God has for His people and let me make this clear that His people are those who are saved through faith in His Son Jesus Christ.

There is a great challenge to being America. Satan wants to destroy who we are, and he is now fervently working to attack and destroy us from the inside.  The ultimate place anyone in the world wants to get to is the United States of America.  As people from all over the world have come recently for the World Cup competition person after person has said how amazed they are of America.  They now see it for themselves.  They realize that what they have been told about our country is not true.  They are awed by the freedoms and liberties we enjoy.  Amazed at the abundance of products and choices we have and that is just at Buc-ee’s.  The kindness and the courtesy we have extended is something they were not expecting.

As the only true democratic nation in the world as was declared in our Declaration of Independence, that-

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

History when studied and understood clearly shows that these ideas were based on man’s relationship with and through a Creator who is God.  It was understood that for this nation to begin and grow that it would require it being born in God and through God. That is why we have the undergirding for our system of governance and law based on Judeo-Christian truths and understanding.  This a democratic republic founded on that all are created equal and all are endowed by their Creator those rights which are impossible to take away or give up.  Life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness. 

In 1956, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a bill making “In God we trust” the official U.S. motto and requiring it to appear on all American currency.  Democratic Congressman Charles E. Bennett of Florida sponsored the bill, stating that the United States “was founded in a spiritual atmosphere and with a firm trust in God.”

“In God We Trust” is more than an official motto or inscription on currency.  It is the essence and truth of who and what we are as a nation.  For only by the grace of God could we have survived.  Only by the grace of God, we will survive this day and those ahead.

Throughout much of recent world history there has been a battle of ideas of this democratic republic versus communism. As a nation we are a democratic republic based on the capitalist system.  The more prevalent language used today is socialism/communism as systems which should be embarked upon as a new direction for these United States.

Capitalism is an economic system, dominant in the Western world since the breakup of feudalism, in which most means of production are privately owned and production is guided and income distributed largely through the operation of markets.

Socialism, social and economic doctrine that calls for public rather than private ownership or control of property and natural resources. According to the socialist view, individuals do not live or work in isolation but live in cooperation with one another. Furthermore, everything that people produce is in some sense a social product, and everyone who contributes to the production of a good is entitled to a share in it. Society as a whole, therefore, should own or at least control property for the benefit of all its members.

Communism is a political and economic doctrine that aims to replace private property and a profit-based economy with public ownership and communal control of at least the major means of production (e.g., mines, mills, and factories) and the natural resources society. Communism is thus a form of socialism, a higher and more advanced form, according to its advocates. Exactly how communism differs from socialism has long been a matter of debate, but the distinction rests largely on the communists’ adherence to the revolutionary socialism of Karl Marx.

Like many of you, I grew up during the Cold War.  It was a rivalry that developed after WW II between the United States and the Soviet Union with their allies. The Cold War was waged on political, economic, and propaganda fronts.  The term was first used by the English writer George Orwell in an article published in 1945 to refer to what he predicted would be a nuclear stalemate between “two or three monstrous super-states, each who possessed of a weapon by which millions of people can be wiped out in a few seconds.” It was first used in the United States by the American financier and presidential adviser Bernard Baruch in a speech at the State House in Columbia, South Carolina in 1947.

As terrifying as those days were, along with what we now know from history of the places where socialism and/or communism neither one does not work. They enslave the people they do not set them free.  It takes and it does not give as promoted.  They destroy lives and nations, turning them into hell holes of all that is unholy.

Right about now you may be asking yourself why he is writing and sharing these things with us today.  It is a legitimate question.  Here is the answer in a clear and direct manner. 

Because this world is coming to an end probably sooner than we might like but it is happening regardless. How we live each day should be one which our Creator gives us.  Granted we are the only nation in the world with what we have.  We have shared it with the world and our good has been thought of as evil. 

Logic and common sense are lost on numbers of people today.  It is my hope that numerically there is a majority of those who possess logic and common sense to silence a loud and disturbed minority.  In this case silence is not a virtue.  We as Christians and American citizens must pray and voice our desires to those who we have elected to represent us.  When the time for the ballot box comes, and they have not done as we elected them, then we vote them out.  Thus, we are always looking for is the candidate who has the values and desires we have.

I said this in previous blog and podcast that we must vote.  If you are not registered to vote, then do so.  We must all vote in each and every election.  Study the issues on the ballot.  Know the candidates. Know what they stand for.  Be sure they align with what you believe and know are right.
