Time Passes

As you will have noted, time has been something that has been on my mind lately. Over the past several weeks, I have written about time with varieties of thoughts and ideas. Now it is not that I am possessed with the thought of time, but that time is something we all have in common. Often the thought of how we utilize our time becomes a focus. Not that it is wrong because we should be focusing on our time and how it is used each day.
When we look back on our lives, we can see how we used or maybe even misused our time. The opportunities lost for another endeavor which was based on the decision we made at that time. Everybody and I mean everybody has regrets and says if I had it to do over again I would. Well, you get the idea.
We know that God gives us all the same number of hours in a day. For mankind there are 24 hours in a day and 365 days in a year. OK, leap years acknowledged as every 4 years. Yet we don't know how long we have on this earth. We don't know how much time we have with others. We don't know how long our careers will last.
That is the reason that as I spoke of recently, that we can only learn from the past, live for the day with hope of tomorrow. That hope is it will be here for another day or with the Lord in heaven.
Our lives have moments that mark significant events like a birthday. One of our granddaughters, our daughter and our grandson all have birthdays in August for example. Yesterday was our 54th wedding anniversary. I was texting with our son-in-law about our daughter's birthday which is a milestone one. He just had his and he commented about the realization of it occurring. It took me back to Kenny Chesney's song "Don't Blink".
I can remember things from growing up, to starting a family and like us all, I blinked. Time came and went faster than I could have even imagined.
We cannot understand eternity. It is beyond our ability to do so. We live in time, yet God and our eternity have no ending. I can't fathom it, but I can accept it and know that one day I will enter it into that eternity and know peace as i have never known it before.
What about you today? Do you have that acceptance of that peace? There is only one way to accept it and have that peace. God made it very simple for man. John 3:16 NKV-
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
These were the words of Jesus Christ Himself and He even chose to tell us why He came as seen in the next verse-
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
We all live this life, and some do it better than others. Some start out early, run the race and fight the good fight. Some come in sooner than later and then some wait until the end. Regardless of when in life, the decision is always in the confines of a day here that determine where we spend eternity.
In God's Grace,
