There is something that is occurring more often than probably at any time in history. People are not caring about others and many have made it their purpose in life. To them, it is their goal to be recognized and acknowledged when in truth others don’t care.
Now let’s put that in the proper context. When a person says I don’t care what does that mean? It can mean a couple of things. One is that they don’t care and have no desire to even understand or acknowledge it. The other is that they don’t care because they realize that the person has a right to make their own decisions, even if they don’t agree.
The reason this is an important point is that today it is common for people to expect acceptance of their ideas, thoughts, and lifestyle by others. If a person does not get the acceptance it could be that others don't care.
Ask yourself some questions and see how you respond. Do you care if another person has a different lifestyle? Do you care if a person has a different political position? Do you care if they have another religious belief?
If it doesn't bother you that they have another lifestyle, a different political position, or religious belief, then why is it that they are mad at you? Saying you are wrong for not accepting their lifestyle, political position, or religious belief.
You don't understand how they can be that way. You haven't done or said anything derogatory. You have taken the position that it is their right to be wrong. You're not trying to change them. That is not your job. Yet they are mad and may be calling you names or even yelling at you.
I mention this today because this is the world we are living in and it seems to be getting worse on this subject and others every day. You will remember that there was a time when you didn't have people acting this way. Honestly, they were living their life and you were living yours. You know how they live, their political position or religious beliefs they had, and if the truth were known they knew yours, too.
What changed, how did people get to the place they are today? There is a very simple answer. The answer is they have believed a lie that they are more important than the other person. The one that they know doesn't agree with how they live, their political position, or their religious beliefs. This is the result of a belief system that has been around since the beginning of time. It is what got Adam and Eve in trouble in Eden.
Understand that satan is a creation of God. However, satan thought himself to be greater than God. He fell from his position and Scripture reminds us in 1 Peter 5:8-
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
The lie in the garden was that they would be like God. In Genesis 3:5 Eve is told-
For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Since that day mankind has attempted to be god. Mankind is not god for only God is God. We read Isaiah 45:5-12 and God makes it clear-
5 I am the Lord, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me,
6 That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting That there is none besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other;
7 I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord, do all these things.'
8 "Rain down, you heavens, from above, And let the skies pour down righteousness; Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation, And let righteousness spring up together. I, the Lord, have created it.
9 "Woe to him who strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him who forms it, 'What are you making?' Or shall your handiwork say, 'He has no hands'?
10 Woe to him who says to his father, 'What are you begetting?' Or to the woman, 'What have you brought forth?' "
11 Thus says the Lord, The Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: "Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons; And concerning the work of My hands, you command Me.
12 I have made the earth, And created man on it. I--My hands--stretched out the heavens, And all their host I have commanded.
God cares and that is why He sent His Son. Jesus declared in John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
In John 13:34-35 Jesus told His disciples and us today that-
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Caring for and loving others is what we are to be about. It is hard especially in the world today but we must do it.
