On this 250th Birthday of our nation I want to speak to 2 specific topics in this blog and podcast.  This is because of what I see and hear happening around us and in the world.  It is also because the stakes are high.

First, we don’t know when we will individually have our lives come to an end.  That reality is true for everyone who might read or listen to this post.  I say that because man dies and life ends here.  I have said it before, and I will say it here again that the only way to be sure of eternal life with God is through His Son Jesus Christ. If you don’t know Him or are in doubt right now go to ElbertNasworthy.com and click on the link to “How to accept Jesus as your Savior”.  Then come back and finish.  If you know Him as your Savior, then read on and know that there is a resource in that video for anyone you know who needs to accept Jesus as Savior.

If we don’t die, it is only because Jesus came back for His church.  The event is known as the rapture and believers who are alive along with those who have died in Christ are taken out of this world.  The ones who don’t know Him as Savior will be left behind.  You can read about this in the book of 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.  After you have done that then continue in chapter 5 verses 1-10 so you can understand what it will be like when that happens.

Reading chapter 5 and others places in Scripture we can clearly appreciate that we are certainly closer to the end than the beginning.  Will Jesus come back in my lifetime?  I don’t know but I certainly believe that He might.  As a matter of fact, I truly hope so.  Remember it is up to God when Jesus comes back and no one else.

I want to speak now to what is happening around us and in the world.  What should we do as people and as Christians?  Please know that I truly want everyone to believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior.  Yet I know that won’t happen.  Good people will not accept Him and thus spend an eternity separated from Him in hell.  Because God forgives our sin through Jesus Christ people who have not always done good things will find themselves in heaven not because of how their was lived but rather because they accepted Jesus as their Savior.

Secondly, this all leads me to the next topic I need to speak to today.  This world and the people in it are moving further away from any appearance of sanity and decency.  Life is no longer a cherished commodity.  Babies are killed in the womb as a life choice for the mother.  Children have been mutilated because of the false truth that they can change who God created them to be.  People are targeted for and killed for a belief that differs from another. Jihad against any who will not adhere to a specific belief.

There has always been conflict and disagreements, yet it has gotten well out of hand in the world today.  Although we see prosperity and enjoy great freedoms, we are living in a significantly divided country.

It is difficult for me to believe that there is such a divide between people today.  I am not blind to what is happening and why.  Yet I am still amazed by those who have no understanding of life and no commonsense.  My amazement is because I truly believe and would expect all people to make wise decisions and use the commonsense God gave man.  We are seeing all too often the inability of people to make those wise decisions and come to common sense conclusions.

It is important at this point that we commonly use terms such as many, most, majority to give quantity to the numbers being stated.  It happens more than it should regardless of the side a person might be supporting.  I am aware of this and thus with nothing to support that conclusion I don’t use any in my statements.  Simply put there is a number on either side of an issue.  To me it may be 80/20 but another it is not.  However, both admit it is not a unanimous decision or conclusion.

I think this is a good place to stop for this post.  There is another one that follows this in just a few days.  Please be looking for that on my website blog, social media and on Rumble.

Have great 4th, too.

In God’s Grace,

Elbert Nasworthy
